Connections
Connections is our program for 7th-12th grade students. It provides a parent-directed, home-based curriculum which students work on at home 4 days a week and then come together for enrichment, rhetoric, and additional learning opportunities on community day. Connections is where the “fruit” of a classical education begins to really be seen by parents, students, and leaders.
Beginning in 7th grade, students enter the rigorous Connections program, which includes the areas of Logic, Rhetoric, Science, Literature, and History. In this program, students put the skills they have learned to work as they begin to take personal responsibility for their learning and explore themes and concepts on a higher level of cognition. Students are encouraged to engage actively in conversation around each of the subject areas, which are carefully cultivated by grade level to meet state requirements for graduation and to prepare students for whatever profession they may select in the future.
From debate on social and legal issues to essays on character and the importance of historical events for our world today, students are prepared to engage culture in a well-rounded and thoughtful manner. Students explore the scientific method through hands-on scientific experiments, learn the
intricacies of the American court system through a Mock Trial experience, and demonstrate their knowledge of economics through the development of a career portfolio.
Multiple opportunities abound in this enrichment/curriculum program for students to thrive academically and socially as they navigate their way through the challenging middle and high school years.
