Fundamentals
Fundamentals is our program for students in 3rd – 6th grade. With this program, a more formal study of the English language and writing skills begins, extending our weekly community day to a full day.
In the afternoon Fundamentals program, students study the fundamentals of English grammar, learn how to write with excellence, and practice important math skills. The students are split into two groups, Fundamentals A & B. Fundamentals A is for beginning students (3rd and 4th graders) and Fundamentals B is for our more experienced students (5th and 6th graders). The Fundamentals B class culminates each year with a “Faces of History” Presentation that aligns with the morning Explorations program’s history era, combining the skills they are learning in history, writing, and grammar, as well as presentation skills, for a truly classical integration of what students have learned.
This enrichment program reinforces the daily at-home core grammar and writing program and provides students space to share their writing projects with peers and practice grammar and math skills in community, further strengthening concepts in ways that are not always available in home settings.
